I thought I would share this email John sent me yesterday.  It made me laugh...partly because it was funny and partly because it was kind of true...

HIS AND HER DIARY FOR THE SAME DAY

Her Diary:

Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed, but he didn't say much. I asked him what was wrong; he said, 'Nothing.' I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.

On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.'

When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed. About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep -- I cried.

I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster.

His Diary:

Boat wouldn't start; can't figure out why.

I know her diary seems a little over the top, and it is...at least for me, but it does bring out the differences between how men and women think and interact.  John and I have little moments like this...not to this extreme by any means, but just dealing with little misunderstandings due to the differences between how men and women express our feelings and how we communicate certain things.

It's all a work in progress on how to communicate within your own relationship.  Sometimes, it's just knowing what questions to ask instead of expectantly waiting for them to share their thoughts.  Sometimes, it's learning to open up about things just for the other person's sake, even if they're not involved.  And we can see from above what jumping to conclusions does for you haha.  Communication is something every couple has to work at.

Isn't it interesting how men and women were created so differently??

Omg this is SO TRUE! Ha ha. Sometimes I really have to drag stuff out of my husband! Men! (they probably think - women -- do they ever shut up?)

Great job on your sprints!! I dread this workout this week. I did tempo today instead. I can't do Sprints 2 days after a long run!

I might steal your speed workout for tonight. That's what's on my schedule too!

I saw your comment about dinner. The marathonfest people have been talking about those dinner reservations. I'm holding out on getting in on the reservations until we figure out our travel plans. I really need to get with Michelle on that!

What an interesting concept! So is this his/her diary thing like something you do every day? Just curious.

Great speed workout though, Christina!
