Thoughts on Thursday!

1. I'm ready for work to be over for the week!  I'm so happy I only have a half day tomorrow!!  Oh for it to be noon on Friday!!

2. It's time to bring out my snow-bunny blue nail polish since I'm about to hit the slopes!

3. I miss my friends!  I feel like we haven't had much bonding time lately and I want it.  It'll have to wait another week or so now...boo...but I plan on making up for it next weekend

4. There are a lot of things going "my way" that I didn't think would happen anytime soon, but it seems that things are looking up!  I'm very, very happy :)  Hopefully they'll stay that way!

5. I made my first mistake at work that had the potential to cost us big time.  Thankfully, the way things ended up, it wasn't that big of a deal.  I was slightly panicked last night...

6. My grandma is doing great!  I went to see her last night and the doc said her arm will heal just in a soft cast & sling!  What a relief...it's never good to have to undergo surgery.  She should be good as new in 4 weeks!

7. I'm eyeballing quite a few things at Victoria Secret online right now.  I conservatively shopped online for things I would want for spring, especially the honeymoon (clothing & bathing suits only! for now...) and my bill is $360.00.  Ahh!  Maybe I'll get lucky and find a giftcard lying around somewhere?  Ha.  For now, they're staying in my shopping cart!

My Vice Has Returned!!!

Dun-Dun-Dun...

I can't go into the store, see ones of these little guys and not buy one...

It seems they come out earlier every year.  Thankfully they're seasonal or I'd be in big trouble.

Yum!

Wedding Wednesday!

Centerpieces!

This weekend, our centerpiece idea came to me!

Mason Jar Lanterns in three sizes so they are tiered....

...with sand, shells and floating candles...

I ordered the mason jars online in 1/2 gallon and quart size so far.  I might add a gallon size or a pint size to the trio depending on how they look together.  The project should be fairly inexpensive and our style.  So far, we are looking to be about $5 in for 3 mason jars per table...then the cost for the wire, floating candles, sand and shells...we should be under $10 per table which is very exciting!  Especially since we are estimating we will have about 32 tables to decorate...ahh!  Time to get good at tying wire!

What did you do for your centerpieces??

Tell It To Me Tuesday...

I'm linking up with CMae for her first edition!

I drive 22 miles to work every day. 16 of those miles are straight down one two lane semi-rural road that is under construction.  School buses are my vice...or the kids travelling on them are anyway.
You see, when I was a kid, things weren't all about kids.  We weren't treated badly, but we were expected to be considerate.  Now, kids aren't as a general rule...we're told to cater to them so we won't ruin their childhood or some bull$#!^.  When I road the bus, if we were not sitting at the bus stop in line when the bus got there, they left us.  End of story.
Back to my issue...the school bus stops on this road probably 7-8 times on this stretch of road...and that's just ONE of the many buses that travel here.  But each time, the stop sign comes out, the red lights turn on, and we wait...literally 5 minutes for these kids to get out of their parents cars and mosey on over to the bus.  Really?! Backing up traffic on this entire road.  If they're going to allow kids to do this...make them pull over.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a slow driver.  I've had plenty of tickets in my day.  I'm not a horrible, break the law speeder, but I do carry a 5+ mph buffer when I'm on the highway.  I do not, however, speed whenever construction workers are present.  As mentioned before, those 16 miles that are under construction on my daily commute...most of the way there are men and women out there working.  I'm actually friends with the construction crew on that road, since I also work in a different division of the construction industry.  All of these people have families who love them.  I will not endanger them for your benefit...so stop riding my ass!  I'm not going to go any faster...and you're just going to sit behind me on this two lane road ALLLLL the way.  No, I won't be nice and speed up now either when we're out of the worker's way since you've been rude and unsafe this entire trip.  K Thanks.

People who wear too much cologne or perfume anywhere, but especially at the gym.
Yesterday, as I was running at the gym, I suddenly felt nausea overtake me instantly.  Stupid too much cologne guy decided to post up next to me on the treadmill.  I understand you probably don't want to be smelly...I don't want you to be smelly either, but deodorant does just fine for that.

Anonymous or mean-spirited bloggers.
So, today I was reading one of my favorite blogs and I saw that someone had left a mean comment for no reason.  Her blog is light hearted and funny and she pokes fun at herself and other things going on in life.  So instead of just letting go the topic this commenter did not like, mean-commenter slammed and then insulted the author of the blog instead of just choosing to click the little 'x' in the corner.  I think we all blog because it's a good outlet, a place to talk to others and make friends.  Most of us are here to build each other up.  If you don't like what someone's opinion is, or a comment they make, you can choose to just not read their writings anymore...let it go...it's your choice what you let into your mind and if you find something offensive...go elsewhere.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Onto other news...
I did succeed in hitting 10 miles on the treadmill last night.  'The Sound of Music' made it all better...seriously. It was a great run.  I always find it interesting to run for at least 6 miles in the evening at the gym...it's excellent for people watching.  Lots of rotations of people to see.
Say a little prayer for my grandma.  She fell yesterday and broke her arm and is waiting to hear what's next. :(
Also, in not so happy news, Chicken Little, the turtle, died.  I came into my office this morning the poor little guy was upside down.  I thought he was getting better but acted funny yesterday.  We had a little send off into the creek behind the office in a little open casket.  Yes, I get attached to all pets...
I'm pretty much ready for this week to be over.  I woke up thinking it was Wednesday, only to be disappointed and I haven't quite gotten over it yet.  Hurry Friday!
Miscellany Monday
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
one.
I'm just plain tired lately.  It seems my body craves sleep far more than usual.  I'm glad I have vacation coming soon...I'll play and sleep and eat! That's all!
two.
I ran 9.25 miles on the treadmill Friday night.  Not so fun...even with a movie.  I find the treadmill much harder for runs longer than 5 miles than running outside.  I do have to run 30 miles before the end of the month to keep up with my 1000 miles this year.  I have a feeling I'll be making those up at a later date.
three.
My first wedding shower was this weekend.  It was a lot of fun!  When I get some pictures I will post them.  I'm looking forward to the other one now :)
four.
I watched Eat. Pray. Love. Friday night.  I didn't really care for it.  If you're thinking of seeing it, it wouldn't be on my list of priority flicks...that's for sure.
five.
=
FUNNY!
I thought it was a good flick.  You should see it.  We went with some friends and all the boys liked it too!
six.
99% of our invitations went out Friday!  I'm so happy!  What a relief.  Now everything else is easy.  It's falling into place.  Come back Wednesday for my new centerpiece idea!!  I love it!
seven.
Is anyone else slightly obsessed with 'Words With Friends'?  If so, you should hit me up...user name: CKDubs.  I usually suck, but enjoy playing :)
eight.
I bought The Sound of Music Friday through iTunes so I could watch it while I ran.  I loved that movie growing up and now we only have the VHS version which does me no good since I don't have a VHS player anymore.  Well, it didn't download onto my phone for some reason, so I had to do it again today.  I'm thinking of torturing myself again tonight with a long enough run on the treadmill to watch the movie if I can stand it.  Decisions, decisions.  I would run and try to watch it outside but I might trip over something or run out in front of a car while singing along...just kidding...about the singing anyway.
I don't have the greatest track record...during marathon training one morning I was running with a group and we jumped over a 'log' and later found out it was actually an alligator laying there.  Thankfully I didn't lose a leg...it would have sucked to do all that training for nothing...and that was without music or any other distraction...
Happy Monday Friends!  I hope you have a great start to the week!
Yummy Apple Muffins!
This morning we went to the grocery store and there were amazing sales! Spent $50 saved $40 with no coupons...happiness! One of the things we got was pancake mix and I found the following recipe on the back and made it for breakfast for tomorrow.
They taste delicious!
It'll be a nice little treat for Monday morning after the gym...we'll kick this week off right!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!! We have a few precious hours left! :-)
Five Question Friday
1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?
I met John (who's not quite my spouse yet, but will be in a couple months!) at church probably late elementary school.  No, it was not instantly love...not even close.  We were friends to a point, but we usually just saw each other at church stuff.  This went all the way through high school.  We both dated other people in the church group and at school.  I think I had a crush on him for a little in middle school and one of the other girls said it wasn't fair because she knew him longer, so I said fine...I just thought he was cute anyway and dated someone else.
Moving on down the road through college, I was about to go back for my last semester when John started asking me to hang out every once in a while.  It never happened.  Then over summer, he asked again a few times.  I went once in a group, then one night he called to see if I wanted to go out.  I had my little cousin's birthday party, but I agreed to meet up with him later and we went to the movies.  We both talked about how we didn't want a relationship but ended up starting to date anyway...it was a natural progression...with a few rough patches thrown in since we are both oh so stubborn and strong willed.  But...I guess it all worked out :)  If we had tried to date before we did, we would have killed each other and never spoke again...I do know that for a fact...we joke about it pretty regularly.  We had some growing up to do before we worked.
2. What is your favorite room in your house?
My room when it's clean :)  I have the most comfy bed in the world!  If my room isn't clean...the kitchen...so I can bake!  The kitchen is pretty much always clean because my OCD comes out there...kind of nice that it's all focused in one area :)
3. Can you wiggle your ears?
I feel like I can...but who knows if it looks like they're wiggling.
4. What is your evening ritual?
It depends on the night...we'll just assume for this that I don't have something going on.  Stop by Publix (our grocery store) to get something to make for dinner.  I get home and change into something that isn't work clothes.  Start cooking dinner, or John does...it depends on what's for dinner.  Watch some shows on the DVR or netflix.  Wash face and brush teeth.  Go to sleep.  Ahh sleep!
5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?
Eight.  If I don't get a full night's sleep for a few days in a row, I'm not nice.  I can't function.  I want to cry.  Seriously.  It's a big deal.
Thoughts on Thursday!
1. I'm linking up with Carolyn for her first linky Thoughts on Thursday!  Congrats! :)
2. It's Thursday...which means it's almost Friday...thank goodness!  I'm ready for the weekend!
3. I'm a little bummed because the shower dress I mentioned yesterday suddenly became out of stock in my size...so I went to the mall to find it, and they don't sell it in stores.  So, I went to my go to store for dresses, White House Black Market.  They, for once, didn't really have anything that floated my boat either...I took pictures.  I'm not really a big ruffle person, I feel they aren't flattering to me...and ignore my face/hair.  I'm not sure what the problem was in some of these...
So, none of them were me and I'm starting over.  Like I have time to do that...haha.
4. It's another beautiful day in Florida.  The high is 76*F and I'm loving life!
5. I have my second dance lesson tonight with my dad for the wedding.  He and my mom have been taking dance lessons for probably 15+ years and that's the only way he's comfortable with a father/daughter dance...so I'm taking lessons with him.  Apparently, I'm a pro...look for me on 'Dancing with the Stars' soon...being famous for my raw talent.
6. I'm starving, thank you running!  I've really kicked up my running again which delights me.  That stint of the non-runner in December didn't suit me too well.  I was going to run during lunch, but the grandparents stopped by, so I'm heading to lunch with them.
7. Our wedding is in 66 day!  Yay!  It's coming so fast now!
8. I've become quite obsessed with painting my nails.  I never really used to be a fan, but lately, I am.  John and I went to Walmart Saturday, and ended up sampling a lot of colors.  I bought 5 new ones...they were pretty cheap as far as nailpolish goes, so yay!  Check out my nails, the check out lady was crackin' jokes.
 Happy Friday-Eve y'all!  We've almost made it to Friday!
Random Bits...
A random post?  Shocking :)
So, first, The Bachelor since I caught up at lunch...as well as a 5 mile run in 46:37!  Yay running!
I cheat.
I read a blog of spoilers for the show.
I already know who he picks.
I was going to not read the spoilers this season, but, I can't help myself...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night, we addressed some invitations.  Almost all of them!  Thanks to my ladies & mom & future MIL!  Now I just need to stamp and stuff!  We're getting there!  A little over 2 months away...which is crazy-in a I'm so crazy excited that I can't stand it kind of way-if you ask me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's warming up here in sunny Florida.  Thank you warm weather for coming back...you know us cold-sensitive residence need you to survive long term!  Today it's the in 70's...here's the view from my window at work:
Miscellany Monday
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
one.
Monday. Rainy. Naptime?
It's so tough to stay alert at work when it's awesome nap-weather outside.  Good thing I'm busy so I can't fall asleep :)
two.
Wedding invitation addressing starts tonight.  My wonderful ladies are coming to help!  I bribed them with pizza and ice cream ;) (although they're awesome and would have probably helped without bribery haha)
three.
John doesn't have to work today and I do.  I'm not so jealous that he's working on trim for the house though...
four.
This past weekend was relaxing and I loved it!  Well...relaxing for us anyway...
five.
My first wedding shower is this weekend and I'm so excited!  It's a family one...I've been cheating by looking at the registry online to see what to expect because I hate opening gifts in front of people and want to be prepared ha and people are being very good to us.  I'm so excited to use my new matching everything kitchen, bedding & bath stuff.  John says I have to wait until after we get married to use any of the stuff...is that true?!
six.
I was having trouble finding someone to watch Lily during the wedding since it's out of town, anyone who would watch Lily is going to be there and the resort my mom booked us at doesn't allow pets.  I found a hotel that's nice and right down the road that will allow pets, so my friend Andrew is going to watch puppies.  He may need some help since there are going to be 3 of them!  Thanks Andrew Lee!
seven.
My turtle is going nuts right now.  He keeps climbing on the rock and jumping off and appears to be trying to detach his floating rock from the wall.  Crazy turtle...
eight.
Thanks to Michelle, I'm craving a cupcake like crazy now! :)
Guilty Pleasures...
Happy Weekend Eve!  You can tell where my mind is at right now...The Weekend.  It has been a good week, just not super relaxing...been busy!
I thought it would be fun to talk about 10 guilty pleasures I have and see what yours are!  We all have them you know....:)
In no particular order...
She can bring you back to being 16 in two seconds flat! Ha!  Taylor and I have been rocking out quite a bit lately!
Yes, I have an ice cream problem.  I love it!  I went for a while where I was eating too much ice cream and became slightly lactose.  I fixed that immediately though...so I could survive.
Funfetti Cupcakes.  Like Whoa...so yummy!
Yea...it sucks me in.  I try to resist, but I'm just not that strong...
I have to buy new undies.  I've always been like this.  Something about knowing you have on cute ones, even though no one else knows :)
The Shopaholic Series.  They are witty little novels that make me laugh.  They're easy reads and I've read most of them.  Sophie Kinsella does a good job putting you in the moment...if the situation in the book is awkward, you'll feel awkward.  You should read them if you haven't...
Coach purses.  I'm not sure why...it's really just Coach.  I've seen other cute bags, but haven't wanted them nearly as bad...
Thankfully I like smaller purses, so the expense is slightly less of a hit.
So, John and I both own our homes.  But, the market is really, really good right for buyers.  I can't help but look and wish I could buy this house, or that lot.  I have found a couple of properties that we would like to make a move on because they are on a lake or canal leading out to a lake we would really love to live on.  I just keep searching away...knowing that we probably won't move on anything right now.  I did put my place up for sale {insert shameless plug} if anyone is looking for a condo in an awesome location in a growing area in Orlando!  Great price!  Haha!
I probably own 40 or so.  Some of them are a little worn out, but wearable.  I live in Florida. This amount has been accumulated over many years.  Hey!  No judging!
Not Miley, but this song for some reason.  I don't really like her that much, but that song...oh yea...Party in the USA!
So...what are your little guilty pleasures???
