Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one.
I have found them!
Sad thing is, they only had one of my favorites..Caramel Delights.  They'd already sold out of the Peanut Butter Patties...proving they're the best.  The mom with the girls informed me that there will be someone selling at my Publix for the next few weekends, so looks like I'll be spending extra time chasing little girl scouts for some yummy cookies.  I DO have priorities here.
I'm coming for you!

two.
I'm excited to get into pre-marathon training, training :)  I'm going to make sure my mileage is up to between 8-14 miles for my "long" runs, plus a few 5-6 milers during the week to get a good base reestablished.  I got my run in Friday and afterwards I was instantly giddy.  Proof that I need running ha.  I don't start training officially until probably June.  I booked my hotel already to be on the safe side.  It was chosen simply based on the fact that it was the only hotel in town with a hot tub.  Yes, that is a requirement for me after eating, showering, taking care of my muscles, and napping...hot tub time!

three.
This weekend was fantastic!  Friday, I ran, ate, and went to watch John & his brother play softball.  Robin and I cheered and laughed from the stands...there were some interesting things going on in the game, including the other team had an outfielder throw in the ball and hit their shortstop in the back.  He fell in slow motion like they do in the movies.  It was awesome and he was ok, so it's not sooo mean that I almost fell out of the bleachers laughing...  My friend Andrew met up with us too!! Yay!

Saturday, I got to sleep in a little and then I cleaned and went to get my wedding hair done.   You can see that here.  If anyone has suggestions, let me know!  That evening, we went out with our friends for our group Valentines date.  We had a great time.  We ate, we drank, we were merry!  Then we went and saw
The 10 of us gave it 2 thumbs up!  It was funny and was generally kept up beat!  You should see it!

Sunday, I slept in again! Yay! and then we went to lunch with John's family to celebrate his dad's and Robin's birthday.  We went to
where they serve family style Italian food.  Pretty tasty!

four.
Tonight we are cooking dinner at home for Vday.  I was cooking baked ziti, but after our lunch yesterday, we're cooking chicken tacos instead!  We're not much of a Vday celebrating couple.  We'll do little things and have dinner together, but that's about it.  I couldn't help but get a little cheesy this year because it's our wedding year haha.  It should be a good night!

five.
I swear Florida's weather is bi-polar.  It was so beautiful yesterday and in the 70's. This morning, it's cold.  It's so cold here in the office, even the men are complaining.  What's up with that?!  At least by the end of the week, there's rumors it's going to reach 80!  What?!  I think I need to head to the beach ASAP!

six.
Have a happy Monday & Valentines Day friends!

Wedding Hair

Runners Unite!

This is a great quote from my 'Daily Kick In The Butt' from Runners World:

"We runners are all a little nutty, but we're good people who just want to enjoy our healthy, primitive challenge. Others may not understand running, but we do, and we cherish it. That's our only message."

-John J. Kelley, Olympic marathoner

Have a wonderful weekend!

Five Question Friday + Friday Confessional

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear?
Hmm...that is tough.  I wouldn't mind a home from Extreme Home MakeOver just because they always turn out beautifully and are finished quickly (and free!) but I think I'd probably have to choose the what not to wear.  I don't think my fashion sense is horrible, but I could use the help with new ideas.

2. Do you have any tattoos?
I have one tattoo.  It was during my "rebellion" stage...as much of one as I had.  (I was a good kid)  It's of a pink hibiscus and is about the size of a quarter in a place that's super easy to hide, except in bathing suit.  I was 18 when I got it.  I would never have gotten one now, but what's done is done.  I don't hate it, but it will be interesting to see what it looks like when I'm 60 haha.

3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?
I don't have kids.  And Lily...she doesn't care.  Like I mentioned before, I was a pretty good kid.  If I ever happen to have a child and they have the same experiences I have, I'll be pretty happy.  And that's not to toot my own horn, I really just stayed out of trouble.

4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?
It really depends.

Am I far away?  I'll probably stop.

Am I running late?  I'll probably speed up.

I really hate red light runners, and we have a lot down here so I try to not be that person.  Who wants to get in an accident and hurt someone else or myself because I couldn't stand to wait 2 minutes to get through the light?

5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips?
I'm not a huge chocolate fan, I'm more of a chocolate + something else kind of gal.  Give me chocolate covered pretzels  or trail mix so I get my salty and sweet and I'm a happy kid!  Flipz=Amazing!  I think that's why I love peanut butter cups so much too...yum.  You should check these little guys out:
They're better than the big ones my my lowly opinion!

I confess that I can be a brat sometimes.  Not too often, but if I feel strongly enough about something and someone is fighting me, I put my heels in the ground and dig in...hard.  Normally, I'm pretty just go with it.  But, I had a moment like that recently.  Sometimes, I need my little bratty vent time and then I can deal like a mature adult.  I apologized to the one who got to witness this, but some days...it happens.

I confess that as much as I love fruits and veggies, there's nothing more satisfying than a cookie/cupcake/ice cream sometimes.  I've gone a little overboard with the sweets lately, so I'm trying to bring myself back down to moderation.  The only way to break myself is to stop for a while and then slowly allow myself to come back around to moderation.  I have to stop eating sweets?! For this nonsense, I blame Christmastime (even though I love it..don't be mad Christmas).  It was a friend's birthday last night so I did have a little piece of cake.  I will not, however, bake any wonderful goodness in the form of cakes/cookies/cupcakes until I've broken my sugary spirit so I can go back to normal.  Oh for that day to come!  Hurry!  Cadbury Eggs and Girl Scout Cookies are out and I want them so bad, but I need control back first!

I confess that I haven't been on my game this week.  I don't know what it is about travelling, but it seems to beat you down.  Maybe it's the flight...maybe it's the energy exerted snowboarding...maybe my body is exhausted from keeping myself warm in sub-zero temperatures.  I don't know.  All I know is I have been struggling this week.  All I know is, today, after work, I'm running 10 miles and my body is so excited and can't wait.  Seriously.  I'm happy..on the inside!  My first run this week...holy cow.

I confess that I brought up Lily being in a couple of our wedding photos.  John got mad at me and said no.  Why not?  She's part of the family.  I feel a little guilty about wanting it so bad since I know it's a huge deal and a covenant made before God and I wouldn't bring Lily to church...but I can't help it. I'll just put the dress on for our girls wedding dress dinner and have someone else take a picture of me later with her...mwahahaha.

I confess I've been a little dry this week.  Probably goes back to that lack of sleep.  I just couldn't resist my snarky comments at John's softball game Tuesday.  Tonight there's another game...will I feel the need to laugh when someone almost gets hit by the ball or loudly cheer for the other team to trip?  Only time will tell.

I confess if you couldn't already tell, I need sleep to be nice and function, and, as you've probably read before and can see from some of the other confessions today.  If I do not catch up this weekend, I might be in trouble.  Just sayin...

What are your confessions?

Question?

So, I have all these old bridesmaids dresses from weddings past...like 4 years plus, that I've never worn since the weddings. I wanted to keep them just in case, but I feel that it is time to part with them...especially since I'm consolidating before I move more of my crap over to John's house.  Their styles really aren't too bad and they may even work for some homecoming dance.  I'd like to donate them.  Are there any places that are good for that kind of donation or would Salvation Army work for that?

Thoughts on Thursday!

Share your Thoughts on Thursday with Carolyn!

1. I'm in a blah mood today.  I'm sure it has to do with this lovely weather we're having,

the fact that we're incredibly busy right now, and since I decided to finish month 2 of Insanity, I've used my precious time to do that instead of run.  I need to run.  It makes my body happy and in turn, that makes me happy.  I don't care what I have to do tomorrow, I'm running...and doing Insanity.  Up at 4:30 to do both Insanity and run to get it all done before work?  Sure!

2. I'm ready for the weekend.  It should be fun!  Friday night softball, Saturday wedding hair trail and then our group Valentines Day date night!  We started this last year and it was so fun!
Why should Vday be for only romantic love??  I love my friends lots, so we're celebrating our love too :)  Dinner and a movie?  Why yes, I think I will!  Sunday, birthday celebrations for John's dad and my future SIL! Yay!!

3. I got a nice little surprise today.  I was talking to John on the way to meet a couple people for lunch and he was right down the road from where we were eating so he got to join us!  It was a very exciting moment in my day...it actually pretty much made it :)

4.Work has been slow lately, so it's making it hard to be motivated, although I know I need to be.  If I'm not motivated, then it's not helping us get anymore work...and then the cycle would continue.  Construction is a hard industry to be in right now...

5. I was chosen to be on some panel for a year for Clinique.  I'm excited.  I'm really hoping for free make up and for them to bring back a few items I thought were awesome!!
Bonus time at Belk right now to those that might be interested!! Free make up?!  I'll take it!

6. I'm not usually indecisive, but I'm tired of making decisions as of late.  I know people ask questions to be nice and get things right and to make sure things are as we'd want them for the wedding, but I'm tired of making them.  I'd like to be able to float through until the wedding but apparently that is not allowed.  Boo...haha.

Those are all my Thoughts on Thursday!  Have a good rest of the day friends!  We've almost made it to Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

 Snowmobiling!

 Meet Mini Snowman...and remember him...

Oh no! Watch out Mr. Snowman!

Well, John thought mini snowman was ridiculous!

But, I didn't, I was proud of him...

So, I took him for a ride on our snowmobile...sad thing is, he didn't last long...

View from the hot tub...-5*F that day too...burr...
