So far we have:
- The date
- The time
- The place
- Reception contract signed
- Catering contract signed
- The Dress!
- Bridesmaids dresses picked out
- Colors: Cornflower Blue & Silver with lots of white thrown in
Here's my vision for the ceremony, except chairs for 300 instead of 30:

And here's what I picture for the reception, except a blue or silver color on the table instead of the orange:

Next week, John & I are going to meet with the photographer. Their pictures look great online and they've done a family friend's wedding, so we know they have done good work for others with outdoor weddings. Hopefully it all works out. Now, my questions for all you ladies out there are:
What do I come prepared to talk to the photographer about for our first meeting?
What do I come prepared to talk to the photographer about for our first meeting?
What questions should I ask?
All input is greatly appreciated!
Next week: Invitations
6 comments:
get pricing on their packages
what is included with packages
see if you can get rights to the photos for your own printing purposes
view an entire wedding, not just their picks of the wedding, when looking through their pictures
I'll let you know if I think of more...
It looks like you've got some great stuff planned already.
I would ask them what extra fees may be charged if you go over your time limits or if they have any undisclosed fees. Those can add up quickly if you aren't prepared for them up front!
Good luck on the planning!
Thanks for the advice!
First off, LOVE your blog. I had no idea you had one! WOW, you have quite a bit already completed in your planning process! Great job!!!
I interviewed tons and tons of photographers when we were planning and had pages of questions for them! Here are just a few of the questions I asked:
-Will he/she be taking the photos at your wedding?
-Will they give you the negatives (rights) or what is the charge? *My biggest request and most asked question. You want to be able to print them on your own or allow family and friends to print them and not have to pay crazy fee's to print your own pictures*If they allow this you also need to have a release form from the photographer. I ran into problems printing my own pictures without a release form from them.
-How long have they been photographing weddings?
-Are they a member of any associations or groups specific to the industry?
-What styles do they specialize in? Do they do any creative shoots?
-What type of camera will the photographer use?
-Does the photographer use an assistant? Is there an extra charge for this?
-Will there be backup equipment available? And what happens if the photographer is ill?
-Can other people take photos while you are taking photos?
-Has he/she worked at your event locations before? How did it work out?
-Should your event last longer than scheduled, will they stay? Extra charge?
-How many photos come in each package (if they don't allow you to buy the rights)? What is the breakdown per photo?
-What types of photos will be taken (B/W, Color, Antiques, etc..)?
-Will they accept of list from you, for specific photos to be taken?
What attire will they and their assistants wear?
-How long after the event will the proofs be ready?
-What type and how much assistance will they provide in planning your album?
-Does he/she have liability insurance? *some venues require ALL vendors to have this--check your venues contract
Hope these help!
Wow...I had not even thought of some of those things. Thanks for the advice Katie :)
Hi there. I saw you posted on Michell's blog about your beach wedding. Hubs and I got hitched in Maui 4 months ago- at an ultimate beach wedding. Since I'm in planning withdrawals- I'm happy to help new brides any way I can. Here is a link to my planning bio on Project Wedding. Thought it might help spark some new ideas- as I know I was always looking for new inspiration. http://www.projectwedding.com/biography/list/Tovaqt
